The New Off-topic Thread

Post by MajoNoTakkyubin »

Okay, aside from the thread obviously being kind of suspect itself, does anyone else notice that the poster (not going to use their name, just in case) doesn't seem to actually be a user here? The post is up, but the username is gone and there's no profile with that name. Did they just post something and leave?

I'm a little sketched out here, so I'm not going to click on the thread, but do any brave souls want to risk it? It doesn't QUITE fall under any of the guidelines (it hasn't shifted positions, it's not from the future, etc), but it definitely seems a little off.

This place was built on the ideals of those who seek the truth, or so I was led to believe. For all the posts here of people who have looked past the veil of the ordinary to accept the existence of the extraordinary, I'd hope people were more curious, less easily frightened by the possibility of what may be.

I'd suggest reading it and making up your own mind. Be mindful of who you trust.

I have seen what the unknown is capable of , foolish are the feet that walk blind . So i advise you begin to watch where you step Pen , after all we know what happened to the cat .

Checked the thread. I'll let you know if I suddenly disappear or get caught in an incident.

You’ll have to forgive me, I’ve never been good at listening to people who tell me where not to look.

Every one of us stepped into the unknown when they came here. Continuing to do so blindly is exactly what I’m advising against.

i think we are flipping the coin on the same point both are valid & correct , different experiences lead to different means of approach .

Yeah, I feel the need to point out that thread is precisely the kind of thing that we were warned about: Posted by a really suspicious account that seemingly doesn't exist, in the wrong forum, with a headline that's meant to pull people in, on an occult website that specifically warns about those kinds of behaviours. Since not all of us are seasoned occult investigators that are able to put a giant wall of arcane defenses up to protect ourselves, it's totally natural to be wary. I only got here a week ago, and I never even knew any of this stuff existed, after all! I'd rather not end up with a demon-possessed computer. This thing was expensive.

Also, I want to say that the account not existing is actually really suspicious in its own right, because it suggests that, even if this is totally innocent, the site admins banned the account, but DIDN'T delete the offending post. So unless the original poster deleted their account after posting (I have no idea how to do that, by the way...), there's something suspect going on there.

That's actually a good point. Are we able to delete our own account, or would we have to ask admin to do so? I didn't see anything in the User Panel or Profile, that would allow me to delete.

There's also a second deleted user account in the forum. They were replying to the "Institute Door" Thread, but that account doesn't exist anymore either?

Huh...I hadn't noticed that...that's weird. That person was still here a few days ago, I'm pretty sure...
